The Christ Hospital Health Network Opens Urgent Care in Northern Kentucky

Christ Hospital Providers Treat Urgent, Non Life-Threatening Conditions During Extended Weekday and Weekend Hours

Cincinnati (September 5, 2017) – The Christ Hospital Health Network is pleased to announce the opening of a new Urgent Care Center on September 5, 2017. The state-of-the-art facility, conveniently located off I-71/75 at 1955 Dixie Highway, Suite F (in the same building with The Christ Hospital Outpatient Center – Ft. Wright), will help to bridge the gap for urgent medical needs that are more pressing than a scheduled visit to a primary care physician, but may not require a more expensive trip to an emergency room. Patients will be cared for by experienced Christ Hospital providers. X-ray and lab services will be available on-site to quickly and effectively address injuries and ailments in a single visit.

“We encourage everyone to first and foremost develop a relationship with a primary care physician, but we also understand that because of busy schedules or urgent situations, there are times when a medical need is going to require immediate attention,” said Joseph Bateman, M.D., executive medical director of The Christ Hospital Physicians – Primary Care, the hospital-owned primary care group. “With the Urgent Care Center’s extended hours and convenient Northern Kentucky location, patients will have rapid access to quality care at a cost that is more aligned with that of a doctor’s office visit compared to a trip to the emergency room.”

The Christ Hospital Urgent Care – Ft. Wright staff will treat urgent medical needs ranging from acute illness, such as respiratory or stomach bugs, to infections, sprains, strains, cuts, burns, rashes, bites and more. The Christ Hospital Urgent Care – Ft. Wright will also provide sports physicals and on-site diagnostic testing (see additional services attached).

“Often, people who come to an emergency room with a non life-threatening injury can be treated at an urgent care center in a much shorter time and at a much lower cost,” said Alison Sweet, M.D. medical director of the new urgent care center “In fact, the average visit to an urgent care center is about a third of the cost of a trip to an ER.”

“For more than 125 years, The Christ Hospital has been a leader in transforming care across the region by providing exceptional care, and with our new Urgent Care location, we are improving options and access for our current northern Kentucky patients. Northern Kentucky residents account for 16 percent of our patients, and this center will be a new access point for current and future patients in the area,” said Vic DiPilla, Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer of The Christ Hospital Health Network.
