The Christ Hospital is pleased to announce the launch of MyChart Bedside, a mobile application developed by Epic that gives our hospitalized patients and their families information about their hospital stay.

MyChart Bedside enables patients to keep track of their schedule, learn about members of the care team, and conveniently review their medical information independently during their hospital stay. The application also allows for a quick and easy mode of communication between patients and staff for a more personalized patient experience.

“MyChart Bedside has been well received by many patients and has been noted to improve the overall hospital experience and relationship with their care team,” said Paula Campbell, Chief Nursing Information Officer, The Christ Hospital Health Network.

Patients are able to use The Christ Hospital’s tablets to access MyChart Bedside or bring their own tablet or phone. Key features of MyChart Bedside include: reviewing vital signs and lab test results, documenting personal notes and viewing doctor notes, requesting non-urgent items like a blanket, and viewing the patient’s daily schedule.

For patients who are feeling well enough, the application also offers several educational and interactive components. Patients can view photos of their care team, communicate with their care team, read assigned educational topics and short videos, and even catch up on their favorite Netflix shows.

Patients are also able to sign up for MyChart, an outpatient portal, through MyChart Bedside. Starting in October, MyChart Bedside will allow proxy access, so patients can grant loved ones the ability to see some of their hospital stay information.

If patients and their care team determine that MyChart Bedside would be a useful tool during their stay, a MyChart Bedside liaison will visit to help get them started.
