CINCINNATI (April 23, 2026) – As Ted Karras trains for the Flying Pig 5K, he took a pit stop to take part in the second annual ‘Joint and Swine’ race at The Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center in Mt. Auburn. The event was held on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Joint and Spine Center.

Karras and recent orthopedic surgery patients joined the Joint and Spine Center staff in an on-site mini marathon around one floor of the hospital. Competitors received an Official Flying Pig Cincy Hat Foundation hats.

Ortho patients are highly encouraged to get up and move post operation to help in the recovery process. What better way to celebrate the biggest race weekend in Cincinnati than a much more manageable version at The Christ Hospital Health Network?

Physicians were present to talk more about how exercise can help in the post-op journey for patients as well as ways to avoid injuries if they’re inspired to get into running. The event highlights the importance of exercise, physical therapy and recovery from operations. Ted will also meet with patients and team members to learn more about the recovery process.
