The Christ Hospital Health Network Named to ICU Centers of Excellence Program

Program Run by the Society of Critical Care Medicine

CINCINNATI (April 28, 2026) – The Christ Hospital Health Network has been named as one of just 45 institutions accepted to the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) new ICU Centers of Excellence Program. The initiative is designed to empower intensive care unit (ICU) teams to transform patient care through training, education and sustained quality improvement.

The ICU Centers of Excellence Program facilitates implementation of SCCM’s quality improvement programs, developed by experts with the goal of fostering long-term sustainability through data collection, analysis, intuitive dashboards and ongoing support. The initial focus of the plans is to incorporate both existing and new SCCM quality improvement programs in the future. Participating ICUs gain access to educational modules, multiprofessional team collaboration and expert coaching to improve patient outcomes.

“We are thrilled to be part of this prestigious group of ICU’s Centers of Excellence,” said Marcus Romanello, MD, Chief Medical Officer at The Christ Hospital Health Network. “Our talented critical care physicians, nurses and staff have a well-earned reputation for delivering outstanding clinical outcomes and worldclass advanced treatments. They are eager to share and learn alongside their brightest peers from around the country.”

ICUs at The Christ Hospital will complete online adult modules and ICU Centers of Excellence simulation courses and participate in regular coaching and calls for progress review and data collection. The program fosters peer-to-peer learning offering opportunities for collaboration across the country.
