Sabrina Newstead, MD is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians who specializes in the treatment of infectious diseases. She provides inpatient and outpatient care at the Mt. Auburn location.
Dr. Newstead was drawn to a career in medicine by a lifelong curiosity about the workings of the human body and a strong desire to help others. “Medicine is the perfect balance of problem solving while forming human connections,” she says. “There is always something to learn and always room to grow.”
Effective communication, compassion, and teamwork are the foundations of Dr. Newstead’s approach to providing care. She wants her patients to be fully informed and to feel empowered to have a voice in determining the right treatment options for themselves. “Always ask questions until you feel comfortable,” she says. “You are the expert of your own body, so if something doesn’t feel right, please let us know.”
Dr. Newstead earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in French and Chemistry from Ohio Northern University and she earned her Medical Degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. She completed a residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital where she earned the Stepen Mueller Humanitarian of the Year Award, and a fellowship in Infectious disease at the University of Utah.
She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and she is a member of the American Academy of Medicine, the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, and the Royal College of Physicians – Ireland.
In her free time, Dr. Newstead enjoys kayaking, hiking, and planning her next trip. She loves to bake, try new restaurants, and relax with her family, including her dog – Milo.
