Karam Ayoub, MD, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians-Heart & Vascular who specializes in electrophysiology. He provides care for patients at The Christ Hospital in Mt. Auburn and at the Anderson, Mason, and Montgomery locations.
Dr. Ayoub’s family experience with arrhythmia sparked his interest in medicine. Both his father and sister were diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, with his father receiving catheter ablation treatment. He understands the concerns patients and families face and aims to provide care that helps them recapture good health and peace of mind.
Dr. Ayoub takes a patient-centered approach to care rooted in a desire to treat all individuals like family, making each person feel seen and heard. He focuses on building trust, listening carefully and having open, honest discussions.
“Arrhythmias can affect every part of a person’s life. My approach focuses on supporting the whole patient—not just the rhythm we are treating,” he says. “Offering advanced therapies to patients and seeing meaningful improvements in their quality of life is one of my greatest professional accomplishments.”
He earned his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and fellowships in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at University of Kentucky HealthCare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of the Ventricular Arrythmia Program at the University of Kentucky, where he built a ventricular arrhythmia ablation program.
Dr. Ayoub is certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, cooking and baking, especially sourdough bread.
