Dr. Muhammad Ashraf is a specialist in the fields of Nephrology, Clinical Hypertension and Geriatrics. In addition, he is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and is a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypertension and Nephrology.
Dr. Ashraf was born in a doctor's family. Both parents were surgeons trained in the UK and well full time academic physicians until they retired. He graduated from King Edward Medical University in Pakistan in 2001. After gaining clinical experience in his native country for 1 ½ yrs, he came to the US. He did 3 yrs of residency at St. Luke's Hospital, MO, had his board certification in Internal Medicine in 2008, then after 2 years of clinical hospital experience, went on to do a one year geriatrics fellowship at St. Louis University, in 2011 and then a two year nephrology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 2013 before joining Mt. Auburn Nephrology group in October 2014. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Hypertension Specialists.
As a clinical nephrologist, he had the privilege of training under world renowned faculty in nephrology and HTN, one of the leading kidney transplant centers in the US at Washington University in St. Louis. His wife is a pediatric infectious disease specialist and is currently a hospitalist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. They are blessed by 3 boys and one girl.
He quotes his father once saying, "As Physicians, we may not be able to add days to life, but we can definitely add life to days for our patients."
On the weekend, he loves sports including cycling, tennis and racquetball.
