The Christ Hospital’s Jennifer Wick Receives UNDER 40 Award from the Ohio Pharmacists Association

The Award Highlights Jennifer's Work in Pharmaceuticals

CINCINNATI (April 25, 2023) The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that Jennifer Wick, R.Ph., PharmD, MPH, BCACP of Cold Spring, Kentucky, is a 2023 recipient of an UNDER 40 Award in recognition of her leadership, excellence, and vision in the practice of pharmacy. This award was presented at the OPA 145th Annual Conference held in Columbus earlier this month.

A graduate of University of Kentucky, Wick currently serves as Assistant Director of Pharmacy for Ambulatory Services at The Christ Hospital Health Network. She has created and developed the primary care and outpatient pharmacy department in physician offices at The Christ Hospital Health Network. Wick also designed the program to provide quality and evidence-based care to patients via physician collaborative practice agreements and disease state management of diabetes, hypertension, and more, offering patients improved access to pharmacist services. She has designed other programs to improve medication adherence and pharmacogenomics testing services. For the pharmacogenomic services, patients are able to discuss their results with a pharmacist and recommended changes communicated directly with prescribing physicians. In addition, she helped develop one of the first clinic-based programs implementing provider status. Through this program, the outpatient pharmacy department has seen over 1,400 patients in the past year and has reached statistics of achieving improved A1c blood sugar levels by an average of two to three visits, based on interactions by the pharmacist team.

“We are pleased to recognize Jennifer Wick who has pioneered novel programs with excellence and has great compassion for her patients. She is a valued member of the Association, and we look forward to her future accomplishments,” said Donald Bennett, R.Ph., MBA, OPA Interim Executive Director.

OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
