About Alexander N. Starodub, MD

Alexander Starodub, MD, PhD is an oncology and hematology specialist and The Christ Hospital's Medical Director of Oncology Clinical Trials. His areas of interest include clinical trials and research, medical oncology, GI malignancies, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and melanomas. After earning his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2003, Dr. Starodub remained at the Ohio State University Medical Center for his internal medicine residency. In 2009, he completed fellowship training in medical oncology, hematology, drug development, and translational research at Duke University. He also holds a Ph.D. degree in biophysics from Ohio State University. Dr. Starodub is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with additional subspecialty certification in medical oncology and hematology.

Dr. Starodub possesses a vast amount of clinical research experience and is widely published in national medical journals. With a particular interest in gastrointestinal cancers and melanoma, he is highly knowledgeable about medical treatments for all cancer types, including promising new developments in immuno-oncology.

Dr. Starodub recognizes that nobody wants to be in an oncology office. But if patients do have to see an oncologist, he hopes they are happy to see him. Treating patients like his own family, Dr. Starodub cherishes the opportunity to help people diagnosed with cancer during one of the most challenging times of their lives. He hopes his patients are healed, even if their cancer cannot be cured.

Originally from Ukraine, Dr. Starodub came to the U.S. as a Ph.D. student in 1994. Today he enjoys the dynamic, progressive community and people of Cincinnati. Dr. Starodub is married with two sons. He fills his free time with soccer, chess, and playing with his children.
