Dr. Wendel earned his BS from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from the Indiana University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Wendel is certified in advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic assisted surgery and trans-obturator, sub-urethal support systems. He a recipient of the George Hayden, M.D. Teaching Award from the University of Cincinnati and has been names a "Top Doctor" by Cincinnati Magazine in 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

He is a member of the Cincinnati Obstetrics and Gynecology Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Ohio State Medical Association, Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
