Dr. Maccarone is a practicing general surgeon at The Christ Hospital who specializes in minimally invasive techniques, and also skin and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Maccarone performs minimally invasive procedures using the DaVinci surgical robot, including gallbladder removal, diseases of the stomach, small intestine and colon, and abdominal wall surgery. Dr. Maccarone has extensive experience in hernia repair for ventral, incisional, umbilical, epigastric, and inguinal/groin types.
She performs all procedures at The Christ Hospital in Mt. Auburn.
A native of Cincinnati, Dr. Maccarone graduated from McAuley High School. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, and then received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Maccarone completed her surgical residency at Good Samaritan Hospital. She also completed a Critical Care fellowship at the University of Cincinnati after general surgery training. She is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Maccarone spends much of her free time with her family and friends. She is an avid Cincinnati sports fan (which is not always easy!), so you can find her at Reds games, cheering for the Bengals, and now our new FC Cincinnati team. Dr. Maccarone also enjoys the arts and music, is a huge fan of dancing with a community called DANCEFIX, plays the piano and even does some of her own drawing and painting when she’s not working.
