Inpatient rehabilitation specialized services

Our team of rehabilitation professionals helps patients with additional health considerations meet their recovery goals with specialized rehabilitation services.

Hemodialysis rehabilitation care

We offer a special program for hemodialysis patients who require rehabilitation. Hemodialysis patients can expect:

  • Daily care by a physician including the patient’s nephrologist

  • Physical, occupational and/or speech therapy before hemodialysis on dialysis days

  • Hemodialysis occurring after 4 p.m.

  • A dialysis team that works closely with the rehabilitation team to coordinate the hemodialysis based on the patient’s rehabilitative needs

  • Time for the patient to recover from hemodialysis prior to intensive therapies the following day

Stroke rehabilitation care

We’ve developed a special program to maximize functional outcomes for our stroke rehabilitation patients. This comprehensive program offers individualized treatment and education for the stroke survivor using the latest rehabilitation techniques and leading-edge technology.

The program incorporates a standardized, interdisciplinary approach to stroke rehabilitation. It’s the only stroke program in Greater Cincinnati accredited by CARF International as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Stroke Specialty program.

Most major insurance providers including Medicare cover our program. Stroke rehabilitation treatment:

  • Addresses psychological and/or social issues

  • Improves activities of daily living (ADLs)

  • Manages bowel and/or bladder dysfunctions

  • Maximizes mobility and independence

  • Prevents other possible complications

  • Promotes a positive self-image

The primary goal of the program is to prepare the patient for returning home independently or with assistance from a care provider. We specifically focus on the individual’s ability to:

Communicate using speech/language skills

  • Perform daily activities (i.e., eating, grooming, dressing, bathing and homemaking)

  • Retain and interpret information and make sound decisions

  • Swallow properly

  • Walk or use a wheelchair safely
