The Christ Hospital’s Fourth Annual FETCH Conference Focuses on Educating First Responders

Keynote Speaker Includes Physician Providing Medical Relief to Syrian Refugees and Department of Homeland Security Consultant

Cincinnati (March 7, 2017) - The Christ Hospital Health Network continues to transform the way care is delivered by elevating the discussion around issues of local and national interest in its fourth annual FETCH (Finding Excellence at The Christ Hospital) Conference. Emphasizing the education of local first responders, the 2017 conference is focusing on two major healthcare topics in our region today: refugee medical relief and homeland security. Keynote speakers include the founder of the American Relief Coalition for Syria and the on-camera disaster and homeland security expert on the Discovery Channel Series, The Colony.
FETCH is a powerful all-day conference designed specifically for nurses, emergency medical professionals, and first-responders across the region to enhance their healthcare education. The conference features national speakers, hands-on labs and advanced simulations. The fourth annual FETCH conference is scheduled for Friday, March 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The FETCH conference was developed by The Christ Hospital Physicians Dean Kereiakes, M.D., the medical director of The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Center, and Stephen Lewis, D.O., director of emergency services at The Christ Hospital.
Dr. Lewis said FETCH has appeal for the many faces of emergency medicine and healthcare, particularly Emergency Medical System (EMS) first-responders.
“EMS professionals don’t always get the exposure to the sort of continuing education opportunities that are offered to doctors, nurses, and medical students,” Dr. Lewis said. “EMS providers are an extension of our emergency services team. They are often the first touch point for our patients. EMS teams across the Greater Cincinnati region make it possible for us to provide the highest level of care for every community we reach.  The FETCH conference takes a very novel approach with hands-on education as well as several nationally recognized speakers.”

Dr. Kereiakes stressed the importance of the FETCH conference because “the close integration of pre-hospital and hospital processes of care has never been more important.”
“Patient outcomes are improved by earlier initiation of treatment and by coordination of care from the point of first medical contact,” he said. “FETCH acknowledges the critical importance of pre-hospital/emergency medical system care and is focused on bringing the pre-hospital and hospital phases of patient care closer together.”
The FETCH Conference will be held in both The Christ Hospital Main Auditorium and The Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center. For more information and to register for the FETCH Conference visit: TheChristHospital.com/FETCH.
