When you hear the exciting news that you are expecting a baby, you are filled with questions about what to expect and how you should be caring for yourself and your baby.

During the first trimester, you will be experiencing significant physical and emotional changes as your hormone levels change to support your growing baby. You may have to adjust your daily routine to manage your fatigue or nausea. Your doctor can help you navigate the changes you are facing as your baby grows and develops.

By the second trimester, you may start to feel better, and your body will start changing to accommodate the space your growing baby needs. The second trimester brings some exciting milestones as well–you will be able to feel your baby move, have your mid-pregnancy ultrasound and find out if you are having a boy or a girl.

In the final trimester, you’ll be busy preparing for baby’s arrival and deciding on your birth plan. You can visit the birthing centers at The Christ Hospital Health Network to learn more about your birthing options. You may also want to attend a pre-natal class to find out about what to expect during childbirth. If you have other children, we also offer a prenatal class to help them prepare and get excited about their new brother or sister.
