​The state of the art Family Birthing Center at The Christ Hospital Medical Center - Liberty Township, opening in 2018, will offer a boutique-like experience for expecting mothers and their families. The Family Birthing Center features large patient rooms which include a kitchenette and a family room, and allows for single- room maternity care.

Whether you are a new mom, or have had children before, the Family Birthing Center at The Christ Hospital Medical Center – Liberty Township is dedicated to providing the finest patient experiences for one of the most important moments of life. With more than 125 years of maternity care experience, we have a long standing tradition of providing exceptional maternity services to women in our region.

The Family Birthing Center will include:

• Nine delivery rooms
  
• Four private special care nursery rooms
  
• Two dedicated cesarean section birthing rooms 
  

In addition, The Christ Hospital Medical Center – Liberty Township will be home to the only cesarean section birth viewing room in the region, allowing families to be in the room with the mother during a planned cesarean section birth, with prior permission from the physician. 

The Family Birthing Center is also offering support for mothers who want to pursue a natural childbirth, including hydrotherapy and extra-large showers with seats in patient rooms. The Christ Hospital Health Network also welcomes patients to bring a doula, also known as a birth companion or post-birth supporter, with them. Inpatient and outpatient lactation services are also offered. 

Laborist Model

The Christ Hospital Medical Center - Liberty Township Family Birthing Center is proud to use a laborist model for our obstetric patients. A laborist is an obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN) who works full-time in a hospital or for a physician group exclusively to treat women in labor, or to respond to obstetric emergencies. This 24/7 obstetrician presence helps to reduce complications from many labor and delivery emergencies, and will lead to improved patient safety and improved overall performance at the crucial moment of delivery. This is especially true for high-risk and emergency situations. This model was designed with our patients in mind, and by utilizing a laborist model, we are confident that we will provide you with exceptional obstetrical care.
